Pivot Pegz Install
17 Jan 2010, written by moto 2 CommentsI have been hearing a lot about Pivot Pegz lately. After a September dualsport trip into the high passes of Colorado, where we spent long periods of time standing on the foot pegs, I realized the first upgrade I needed to make was larger foot pegs on my BMW F800 GS. After watching a Globe Riders DVD with host Helge Pedersen, I was convinced Pivot Pegz were the way to go. They are readily available from web retailers like Touratech or Adventurer’s Workshop (where I bought mine). They essentially have a spindle and bearings, a lot like the pedals on a bicycle. Unlike the pedals on a bicycle, they have stops so they can only rock a few degrees forward and back, under spring tension. The benefit is your feet are always flat on the foot peg platform whether you are sitting or standing. I haven’t ridden with them yet, but I will tell you the install took about 10 minutes. All you need is a flathead screwdriver and some needle nose pliers. Here are some photos of the install.

Pivot Pegz feature a pivoting axle and springs, and nice big grippy platform.

Almost twice as wide as the stock foot pegs! Very grippy teeth.

The entire install took about 5 minutes per side on the BMW F800 GS.
GoPro Hero HD Helmet Cam
28 Dec 2009, written by moto 2 CommentsSanta brought some serious hardware to the moto household for Christmas this year. When I awoke on Christmas morning, it seemed my daughter had a head start and was already thigh-deep in shredded wrapping paper while I was still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. After many cups of coffee were consumed, and the gods of cardboard, plastic, and wrapping paper were appeased with piles of offerings, I noticed something sticking from the top of my stocking. I was excited and pleasantly surprised to receive the gift of a GoPro Hero HD helmet cam, complete with the motorsports kit. I guess I was more or less a good boy after all. After charging up the battery and a trip to Best Buy for a 16 GB SD card, I sat down to a mound of instruction sheets. I am looking forward to mounting it on my ski helmet and testing it out throughout the winter on some ski footage, then experimenting with it on the next moto adventure, whenever that might be. Not soon enough. Happy Holidays.

The much anticipated GoPro Hero HD helmet cam, ready for the next dualsport moto trip.
Great Basin Saddlebag 1 Minute Review
16 Dec 2009, written by moto 0 CommentsI almost forgot about this short video from a weekend trip into Colorado this past fall with Darth, Esteban Frito, Obi-Ben and Jake. After tackling one of the many high mountain passes, we stopped for some snacks, and I captured Darth doing a routine with some quick impressions of the Great Basin Saddlebag from Giant Loop Moto. For a lengthier full review, read my earlier post.
